Sani  Maharaj Jayanti 

Sani  Jayanti is marked as birth anniversary of Lord Sani. Sani Jayanti is also known as Sani Amavasya. Lord Sani is son of Lord Suryadev and rules planet Saturn and weekday Saturday.

Sani  Jayanti is observed on Amavasya Tithi during Jyeshtha month according to North Indian calendar. According to the South Indian calendar, Sani Jayanti falls on Amavasya Tithi during Vaishakha month.

Sani  Jayanti coincides with Vat Savitri Vrat which is observed during Jyeshtha Amavasya. On Sani  Jayanti, devotees keep fast or Upvaasa to propitiate Lord Sani and visit Sani temples to seek the blessing of Lord Sani. It is believed that Lord Sani believes in fair justice and, if appeased, blesses His devotee with good luck and fortune. People who do not have the blessing of Lord Sani toil for years without getting any reward for their hard work in life.

Sani  Jayanti is a very appropriate day to perform Havan, Homam to appease Lord Sani .  Sani  Jayanti is also known as Sanishchara Jayanti and Sani Jayanthi.
