Significance of Gangaur / Gauri Tritiya:

Gangaur is celebrated mainly in North India. Gangaur is also known as Gauri Tritiya. Gouri Mata is worshipped on this day.

The festival symbolizes the eternity of marital bliss. Gan symbolizes Lord Shiva and Gaur represents Gauri or Goddess Parvati. This festival is mainly held in honor of Goddess Parvati, appeasing and offering her prayers as she symbolizes marital love, courage, power, strength and excellence.

Married women celebrate this festival by praying to Goddess Parvati for the success of their marital life as well as the well-being, wealth and long life of their husbands. Girls worship ‘Mata Gauri’ for getting a lovable, handsome, understanding and compatible life partner.

Lakshmi Panchami is also known as Shri Panchami and Shri Vrata. Shri is another name of Goddess Lakshmi. The day of Lakshmi Panchami falls during the first week of Yugadi. Worshipping Goddess Lakshmi at the beginning of the year is considered very auspicious. People observe a day-long fast and worship Goddess Lakshmi at home.
Some business houses and traders perform elaborate Puja on the very same day.
