Significance: To commemorate the lifting of the Govardhan Parvatam (Hill) by Lord Krishna to protect the residents of Vrindavan from the wrath of Lord Indra, we celebrate by performing Krishna and Go Puja.

There is a popular belief that whatever is gifted on the day will be returned manifold with the blessings of Lord Vishnu.
King Bali was a popular and great ruler. Vamana made him the underworld emperor. He was also given the boon that he would be allowed to rule the entire universe for one day, which is the Bali Padyami day.
